A living remnant of the ancient palm forests of Praslin, the Vallée de Mai was designed as UNESCO World Heritage in 1983, where it qualifies under all four criteria a natural site can receive with this recognition. Protected by the world’s highest designation, this 19.5 ha UNESCO World Heritage site is a unique and immersive experience through the largest intact coco de mer palm forest. Wander through the winding paths of the reserve, above you a towering forest canopy, and discover the rich biodiversity that calls the Vallée de Mai home.
